How to clean and impregnate suede barefoot shoes

Today we have taken on barefoot shoes made of suede for children. Here is everything we need for cleaning and shoe care.

Reinigung des Leders

Wir beginnen mit einer Nassreinigung. Hierfür wird der Reiniger zunächst geschüttelt und im Anschluss ein wenig davon auf den nassen Schwamm gegeben. Dieser wird nun ordentlich geknautscht, damit ein schöner Schaum entsteht. Damit der Schuh nicht zu nass wird, drücken wir das restliche Wasser aus dem Schwamm, so dass nur der Schaum übrig bleibt. Damit reiben wir jetzt den gesamten Schuh ein. Der Schaum beginnt direkt zu arbeiten und löst den Schmutz. Wir reiben immer wieder mit dem Schwamm über den Schuh, sodass der Schmutz im Schwamm bleibt. Irgendwann haben wir den kompletten Schaum somit wieder abgenommen. Danach tunken wir den Schwamm noch einmal in unser Waschwasser, um die Rückstände darauf zu entfernen und den Schuh mit dem sauberen Schwamm erneut abzuwischen.
Bei noch stärkerer Verschmutzung wäre es sinnvoll, den Schaum ein wenig auf dem Leder einwirken zu lassen.

Impregnation for long-lasting protection

The shoe is now cleaned. The next step is impregnation. To do this, the bottle must first be shaken very well and then the shoe must be sprayed evenly from a distance of about 20 centimeters. The impregnation spray is now massaged in well with the application brush. Brushing in also removes all visible stearin particles from the leather.

Roughening of the suede

Now the shoes need some drying time. Be careful not to dry the shoes directly in front of or on hot heaters, as this can make the leather brittle.

Finally, only one last step is missing: the reroughing of the suede. After cleaning and care, it regains its characteristic soft appearance. Simply use the suede eraser and brush it over the suede a few times. Due to the grazing direction, you can choose the desired velour shade and thus make the shoe look a little darker or lighter.

The shoes are already optimally cared for and ready for use again.
