How to properly care for Dr. Martens ankle boots made of smooth leather

Give Dr. Martens lace-up boots a new lease of life!

The bordeaux-coloured lace-up ankle boots made of smooth leather have not been extensively cleaned for a long time. The leather is already quite dried out and they lack shine.

At the beginning, prepare everything you need to care for the shoes. We used a gloss brush, a round application brush and finally our shoe polish, the leather care cream in colourless, for our care.
Start by removing the laces from the ankle boots so that cleaning and maintenance is easier and they also get to all hard-to-reach places better.

Then use the gloss brush to brush off loose dirt and dust with a little pressure. This is better suited to the fine leather than a coarse dirt brush.

Treat the seams in particular!

Next, the leather care cream, our colourless shoe polish, is first massaged onto all seams with the help of the application brush. This should be done particularly thoroughly, as most of the moisture can penetrate the shoe through the normally unprotected seams. The wax content it contains protects the ankle boot from moisture.

After the seams on the sole have been treated, the other seams continue. Here, too, the leather care cream should be massaged in evenly with the application brush until it is completely absorbed.

Also pay attention to the seams in the tongue, where the laces were previously removed.

Once you have treated all the seams, work the shoe polish into all surfaces of the shoe with the application brush with circular movements. Massage the leather conditioner until it is no longer visible on the leather.
